Lima Walking Tour is a must for anyone eager to truly discover Lima without breaking the bank. This company organizes four free walking tours each day, all led by passionate local guides who love sharing their city with travelers. Every tour starts at the Tourist Information Point near Kennedy Park in Miraflores.

There are two meeting points: one on José Larco Avenue and another on Diagonal Avenue, both right in the heart of Miraflores.

While the tours are free, the guides work hard every day and rely on tips from travelers. At the end of each tour, it is customary to give a tip—on average, people give around 40 soles, which is about 10 dollars. It is a small price for such an enriching and authentic experience.

You can choose from two morning tours and two afternoon tours. If you are a true walking tour enthusiast, you can even join two tours in one day and see Lima from different perspectives.

The walk ends at the Main Square, Plaza de Armas, the cultural, religious, and artistic epicenter of Peru. Surrounded by the Cathedral, the Government Palace, and other iconic buildings, you can truly feel the weight of history and the beauty of Lima.

I joined this walking tour and truly enjoyed it. Even though I did not learn many new facts, walking the streets with a guide and other travelers made the experience richer. Sharing stories, discovering hidden gems, and feeling the group’s energy turned a simple walk into something memorable.

The Afternoon Free Walking Tours

Miraflores: Ocean Views, Art, and Modern Vibes

In the afternoon at 3:30 pm, the tour of Miraflores begins, one of Lima’s most famous and tourist-friendly districts. This tour takes you to iconic spots like the Parque del Amor, home to the famous “El Beso” sculpture by Victor Delfin and colorful mosaics that give the park a Gaudi-like vibe. The park sits atop dramatic cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and making it one of the most romantic places in the world.

You will also visit Larcomar, the most famous shopping center in Latin America, built into the cliffs with panoramic views of Lima’s beaches and the sea. Walking through Larcomar is a blend of modern luxury, ocean breeze, and cosmopolitan energy.

The streets here are filled with murals, art galleries, and cozy cafes that invite you to linger. One of the highlights is crossing the Puente de los Suspiros, a bridge steeped in romantic legends and magic. Tradition says that if you cross the bridge holding your breath and make a wish, it will come true. From there, you descend the Bajada de Baños, a picturesque street that leads from the heart of Barranco down to the beach, lined with colorful street art and perfect photo spots.

Barranco is the perfect place to end your day. Its relaxed atmosphere, creativity, and history will make you want to come back again and again.
